16.11.2011 , wednesday -As a known in the Tricity sustainable development and ecology enthusiasts, we were asked by the Gdansk Economic Development Agency to propose an external form of the future waste incinerator for Gdansk and the surrounding municipalities. The subject is highly controversial and arouses many emotions. We were invited to a meeting with the inhabitants of Gdansk, where the SIM concepts were presented.

15.11.2011 , tuesday - SIM as one of the few design studios was invited to a business mixer taking place on 14th and 15th of November in Gdansk. The Meeting organised by Flanders Investment & Trade, InvestGDA and VCB (Flemish Federation of the Construction) was an excellent opportunity to showcase our region and of course our studio. We participated in a series of successful individual meetings with representatives of the Flemish and Belgian companies in the construction and financial sector.

25.10.2011 , tuesday - We have another architect in our team. Congrats to Ania Krychowiak for graduating with grade A!

26.09.2011 , monday - 19 and 20 September 2011 in Gdansk, we participated in an international conference of the European Forum for Architectural Policies, co-organized by the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Chamber of Architects and the SARP.

The forum was attended by representatives from: Finland, Denmark, France, Spain, Ukraine, Hungary, Lithuania, Polish and German. All subsequently presented their experience in the management of space in urban areas. Despite numerous differences final conclusions were universal for all. The need for early society education and increase public participation in shaping their environment proved to be indisputable.

20.09.2011 , tuesday- IV edition of "PARTNERSHIP FOR ALL STAGES OF SUSTAINABLE INVESTMENT LIFE CYCLE" became a pretext to talk about the legal instruments of a social dialogue. The meeting was held in Warsaw on September 7th and it was initiated by RG BUD Company. This time we have been invited as one of the panelists. We had an opportunity to share some experiences of the investments, depending on community acceptance.

20.06.2011 , monday- SIM was once again invited to the discussion on sustainable design.

Regular meetings are held under the theme of partnership at all stages of the life cycle of a sustainable construction project.

The third meeting was conducted in turn by Buro Happold.

An interesting formula of the meeting also gave an opportunity to exchange information between the various actors of the investment process.

10.02.2011 , thursday - In mid-January, the contest results have been announced for the Sky Office Building in Warsaw. 52 Workshops submitted their projects and our work is among the top three. Congratulations to the winner.

20.01.2011 , thursday- In mid-January we went to the International Construction Fair BUDMA 2011. Dominated by well-known construction equipment companies with quite few smaller firms. There was a considerable interest for a Chinese pavilion. On January 12 Architecture Day we took part in a very interesting lecture about sustainable architecture held by Rainer Mahlamäki.

22.11.2010 , monday - We were invited to participate in an industry meeting titled "PARTNERSHIP IN ALL STAGES OF THE LIFE CYCLE OF SUSTAINABLE BUILDING INVESTMENT". Participants divided into work tables discussed the various issues associated with the wise and cost-effective design, investing and building.

19.11.2010 , friday - SIM participated in the Third Edition of the Conference "OFFICE BUILDINGS IN POLAND", which took place 26.X.2010 at the Hilton Hotel in Warsaw

16.11.2010 , tuesday - The conference, which we participated in took place on 9th of November in Warsaw. It seems to confirm many of the assumptions and guidelines that make up what we have developed as the SIM Office Standard.

It was also another opportunity to meet with specialists seeking solutions to reduce the negative impact of buildings to the environment. We have established a cooperation with Arup the world leader in the design.

03.11.2010 , wednesday - On 28-29th October we have organized and led pilot workshop for children under the name "Genius Loci - Architectural Education". The students from the third grade of the School of Social and Educational Society in Gdansk. The two-day meeting was ended with an exhibition, which was attended by the participants and their parents. All activities were led by Stefan Schleifer and Anna Wrobel - experienced landscape architect and educator.

19.10.2010 , tuesday-Last week we participated in CREATIVE OFFICE 2010 conference organized by the OFFICE & FACILITY. The meeting, which brought together professionals from design and development of office buildings raised many innovative issues and caused a lot of interesting points which we share below:

Participation in the conference "Creative Office 2010, which took place in

Warsaw, 7-8 October was a big surprise for me. I expected another boring lecture about how to arrange the interior of the office space to obtain functionality of high economic and aesthetic quality. Even more terrible was the "opportunity" to analyze the quality of Polish office building market. But it turned out that invited professionals are intriguing and very creative personalities, who in a very inspiring way drew our attention to a number of issues surrounding the shaping of office space.

It was an interesting approach to the design presented not as a course

which imposed a solution but as providing for certain processes. You could've heard about the offices, which allow not to sit at a desk from 9am to 5pm but let the workers to take a moment to think about creativity, which is not particularly keen to develop in a standard office. It turned out that you can create the most interesting projects sitting with the laptop on the stairs or in the lobby of your office building. They talked about how the office space system affects communication between employees. It was pointed out that passion and conscious using of minimal means can create a friendly space for white-collar workers. It was quite a surprise, how the model of the office has changed over past few decades. New trends show that the space we occupy at work can be a very stimulating place to explore our own creativity. A Google headquarters office in Zurich presented that new approach. During working hours, one can go for a massage or play mini football. An office made to feel better than home... For me it is still a fairy tale.

04.10.2010 , monday- Our project - VILLA MONIUSZKO a multi-family residential buildings development in Gdansk lived to see published in the October edition of "ARCHITECTURE". We are very pleased that our work gained such recognition!

23.11.2010 , thursday- Our team participated in the seminar EMAS 'Environmental Management in Business Administration. We are interested in close to our philosophy campaign slogan "State of the environment also depends on you." A representative of the Ministry of Environment presented the aims and objectives of EMAS. The main assumption of the continuing development of pro-environmental activities and the active participation of all team members will also coincide with our idea of the functioning of the office.

8.10.2010 , wednesday - Date of pilot workshops for children of the School of Social Educational Society in Gdansk is fast approaching. We work hard to provide children with education and fun:)

6.10.2010 , tuesday - Taking ideas of architectural education in the local environment, we begin architectural workshops "Genius Loci" for children of school age. For the first edition we have chosen the School of Social Educational Society in Gdansk, Polanki st. This is a unique school created by pupils, teachers and parents. The project will be conducted in collaboration with architects, experienced teachers, parents and colleagues and members of NGOs.

16.09.2010 , wednesday - we have won a closed competition for a Primary School Complex in Kolbudy. Our project is based on usability, ecology and XXII century design. Project consists of school and nursery facilities along with a gym, mediatheque and auditorium.
